“Eyes closed head bowed…now repeat after me”, and we wonder why the Church in the West is so weak! Did Jesus or the Apostles ever do anything like this?  NOW is the time to abandon these weak un-Biblical cultural models like this that produce decisions in the moment and 0 lasting followers of Jesus. The statistics are overwhelming that these people who “Came to Jesus” through this type of decision are quickly either “choked out” by the cares of this life or “snatched up” by Satan as Jesus describes in the “Parable of the Seeds” of Mark 4.

                 What if we measured the effect  of our evangelism on how many people lost their lives as they knew them to follow Jesus VS how many people put their hands up when all eyes were closed or how many repeated a prayer, or even measured by us having prophetic words on the streets for people. If true followers of Jesus are what we are after there must be a true call to follow after Jesus!

                We have to see things through the lens of the words of Jesus. In Mark 8:31-33 Jesus is speaking to his disciples about His death and Peter actually rebukes Jesus for talking this way! Why? He did not want to hear this because it did not fit Peters “mindset”.

                 A mindset is a pre-determined way of thinking that determines our response to a situation, in this case  it was a STRONGHOLD that did not line up with the words of JESUS yet was held as reality in Peters mind.  Jesus actually has to rebuke Satan off of Peter’s mindset that was based on his own feelings and emotional assumption based on his own understanding that was truly warped.

                For us we must look at our western traditions, and things we have made to be “church” that are not Jesus at all. Inability to accept TRUTH Jesus categorizes as the “Things of man” and the realm of Satan. Our reality must be defined by the words of Jesus… Not our opinion likes or dislikes. A mind set on the “Things of man” gives place to satanic influence.   

EARTHLY MINDSET= realm of satanic rule.

Mark 8:33 – But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

    KINGDOM MINDSET= Freedom realm of TRUTH in Christ Jesus

                Our mindset in the West is pre-conditioned by our Church culture which we have adapted by our predecessors. Please… as you read this I beg you to see this clearly through the lens of the words of Jesus, and to abandon the cultural norm, it’s weak and does not produce True followers of Jesus. The problem is to Truly Follow Jesus, it costs us our LIVES and our LOVES. And we know people in general don’t want to give up their lives or their loves to follow Jesus, and we think it’s too much to ask or require. Jesus had NO problem requiring people’s lives and their loves.  

                Here is the truth… We don’t understand His worth! He is so worth knowing, for those of us who have lost it all and left it all to follow Him we have found He is all He says He is, He is amazing, and worth it all… Jesus it TRULY “The Best Thing” and Better than anything anywhere! We have discarded false lovers and discovered REAL LOVE in Christ. We have lost our lives as we knew them, but we have found TRUE PURPOSE in this life and hope for the life to come in the age to come!   

                In Mark 8:34-38 Jesus makes 4 statements that define His true followers. These statements must become the very mind-sets of every follower of Jesus!  WE CAN NOT apologize for these statements. Jesus had NO problem calling people out. Jesus Defines in His Terms what it looks like to be His true follower.

We may each have need to examine our lives and “Change our Minds-Set” and lifestyle to follow Him Truly as He says, defined by His terms. 

4 mind-sets that define the True Follower of Jesus

Based on Mark 8:34-38 / Luke 14:25-27 / Matt 19:27-30/ Phil 3:7-8  

1. We have come out of the crowd laid down our lives (died) and followed Jesus at full cost of our lives as we knew them.  

2. With lost lives we have found real life, we live for His sake, AND the for the sake of HIS Message. (His person and purpose have become our passion)                        

3. Having lost all that we LOVE, our WHOLE world. We gave Him everything including our very soul, resulting in true Love gained, Christ… “The Best Thing”   

4. We live unashamed of His name… and unashamed of His Message unashamed of His people…  

RESULTING IN…

1. We are alive on the inside and have gained true purpose and REAL LIFE                                                      

 2. His purpose is accomplished through us, His Message, Mission and Ministry multiply a harvest of lives.                         

3. He multiplies everything we lost and more… Our very souls flourish, and our lives shine with REAL LOVE.

4. His name JESUS is “in lights” and honored unashamedly, He honors us in eternity.

                        Having lived this lifestyle ourselves we can lovingly call people to “Cross the Line” and…

1. Come out of the crowd, lose your life as you know it, deny yourself and follow Jesus today.  

2.  Make Him and his Message your primary concern in this life; His Person and His Purpose become your passion

3. Lose and leave all other LOVERS for Him… all of them at all cost    

4. Live unashamed of His name, unashamed of His message, unashamed of His people

Please spend some deep time in repentance over the old ways, and embrace the SCRIPTURE and the MIND-SET Jesus calls us to in the following verses…   

 Mark 8 ³¹ And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. ³² And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. ³³ But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

Mrk 8:34-38 -³⁴ And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. ³⁵ For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.  ³⁶ For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? ³⁷ For what can a man give in return for his soul? ³⁸ For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed ^jwhen he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

Luke 14:25-27   ²⁵ Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, ²⁶ “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

Matt 19:27-30   ²⁷ Then Peter said to him, “We’ve given up everything to follow you. What will we get?” ²⁸ Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new  and the Son of Man  sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. ³⁰ But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then

Phil 3:7-8 -… Those things were important to me, but now I think they are worth nothing because of Christ. ⁸ Not only those things, but I think that all things are worth nothing compared with the greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of him, I have lost all those things, and now I know they are worthless trash…

 LOVE- TRUTH-POWER

Mark 5:15-17-¹⁵ A crowd soon gathered around Jesus, and they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons. He was sitting there fully clothed and perfectly sane, and they were all afraid. ¹⁶ Then those who had seen what happened told the others about the demon-possessed man and the pigs. ¹⁷ And the crowd began pleading with Jesus to go away and leave them alone.

            There are times in the ministry of Jesus and in the Christlike ministry of the disciples where a great fear gripped those who heard and saw what had happened. The result was the name of Jesus held in “High Honor” as the fear of the Lord gripped people. This is not a demonic induced fear, or an anxiety of man, it is the “Fear of the Lord” and comes when people catch a glimpse of the true raw power and authority and actual ability of the Lord Jesus Christ and those who come truly in His name.

            This is in stark contrast to the reality of the public view of western Church today. Although there are times in pockets throughout the west where the Lord Jesus is moving in great power, at large we are seen as weak, anemic, lifeless, powerless, irrelevant, and straight up ancient and not worth anyone’s time. In the eye of the public, we are “Ned Flanders”, of the ”Simpsons” the religious nerdy guy next door who has great morals but is super weird, emasculated, and annoying.

            Jesus stepped on the scene of the Mark 5 demoniac not caring how He would be viewed by the public eye. All He knew was there was a man their captive to demons, and hopelessly discarded by the culture that had NO answers to truly help his condition. (Dr Phil would never even dream to interview or attempt to assist this man).

            Jesus continues to free the man completely, and V15 He is sitting there completely clothed and in his right mind. This invokes a great fear among the people. They used to be afraid of him, and the uncontrollable demons that gripped him, but now they have a new fear, the One who is rightly to be feared… Jesus the Lord.  They pleaded with Jesus (v17) that He leave their region. He was too real, too fearful, the transforming work He did, was overwhelming… He is no Ned Flanders! The “un-helpable” man was transformed, they were afraid.

Acts 5:5 -… And great fear came upon all who heard of it.

Acts 5:11 -Great fear gripped the entire church and everyone else who heard what had happened.

            Each of these verses falls after the death of Ananias (V5) and Saphira his wife (V11). They had both lied to the Holy Spirit about a financial withholding and as a result dropped dead. The issue I believe was the Hypocritical Pharisee heart creeping into the Church. The result of their death was “Great Fear” “Coming upon” all who heard the story and a “Gripping” fear over the entire Church.  Again this is not a demonic fear, but the FEAR of the LORD. Acts 5 continues with a quick change of subject that I believe is completely related;

Acts 5:12-The apostles were performing many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers were meeting regularly at the Temple in the area known as Solomon’s Colonnade. ¹³ But no one else dared to join them, even though all the people had high regard for them.

                   Why did no one else “dare” join them? The fear of the Lord was on the region. This is the birthing of Christianity. It was directly related to V5, and V11 there was a great fear of the LORD that had been birthed in their culture. Perhaps another example would be found in the following passage;

 1 Cor. 14:24 -²⁴ But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, ²⁵ the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.

            To put the 1 Corinthians passage merged with the Remainder of Acts 5, the gathering of His Church was a fearful place because of the activity of God among them.  One could walk into the gathering and prophetically have the secrets of their heart revealed, a deep conviction, and be called to account! There were great signs, things that left people in “Wonder” of God. Peters shadow healed people, sick people were lined up to get healed and demons were cast out. The final expression of the one who came into the gathering would be something like… “GOD is truly among you”!  

            Why is this fearful? Because GOD dwells there among them, through Jesus Christ by His most powerful Spirit. In no other people ever anywhere had he dwelt in such a way as through His Church. There is NO difference today, He still dwells among us, His Church. The ultimate “fruit” of it all culminates in;

Acts 5:14- Yet more and more people believed and were brought to the Lord—crowds of both men and women.  

            This was not “seeker sensitive” movement, yet a crowd gathered. I believe the key here is not simply that a crowd gathered but that the crowds of men and women “Believed and were brought to the Lord”.

            One final passage…

Acts 19:17- The story of what happened spread quickly all through Ephesus, to Jews and Greeks alike.              A solemn fear descended on the city, and the name of the Lord Jesus was greatly honored. (Held in High Honor NIV)

            In the previous verses 11 and 12, Paul is healing, casting out demons, handkerchiefs he touches are healing people, and other unusual miracles are happening. The next paragraph describes a group of posers    (7 sons of Sceva) trying to cast out demons in the name of “Jesus whom Paul” preaches. They didn’t truly know Jesus and have His authority as a result to do this rather they tried to do Jesus ministry vicariously through Paul!   They got the snot beat of them as a result by the demonized man and ran out of the house naked and bleeding all 7 of them.

            The result was the “Name of the Lord Jesus” being held in high honor.  The NLT describes it as “solemn fear” that descends on the city of Ephesus. The ultimate fruit of the solemn fear of the name of Jesus falling on the city was a mass repentance of the people there including thousands of dollars worth of sorcery books being burned (Acts 19:18-19). The passage is topped with a cherry with V20.. “The (word of the LORD) spread widely and had powerful effect.

            The ministry of Jesus was sometimes fear invoking… as was the Christlike ministry of the apostles and the early Church. They were not weird, just full of power to transform lives and situations. I believe we are of their heritage, the same lineage spiritually. We like they are sons and daughters of the living GOD, followers of Jesus who have lost our lives to follow Him.

            His desire is still to impact regions with the “Word of the Lord”, that it would spread widely and have powerful effect. I believe we need a solemn fear of the Lord to descend upon our cities again. That the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ would once again be held in high honor because of the radical transforming power of His Holy Spirit through us. Will you join me in the words and works of Jesus as the fearless Church that releases the “Fear of the Lord”? That through us, the “Fear of the Lord” might be restored both to His Church, and to a lost and hopeless world that has no clue of the fearfully powerful, living Jesus Christ the Lord!

Oh that the fear of the Lord would come again, and the name of the Lord Jesus Christ would once again be held in high honor.

Mercy, compassion, NO CONDEMNTATION, Fearless love, Faith for freedom from bondage, and healing of the soul!

Healing

We must become a hospital, AN ICU a place that takes these folks in, and heals and restores through Christ in us

1 Cor 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Fancy words for … “Cleansed, Purged, Set Right”  so This is what is needed a Cleansing, purging, Setting right

A. The Cross – “Jesus told “Town Harlot” Sins are forgiven” Luke 7:48 “WASHED by BLOOD”

1. Confess sin in detail to the LORD (Confess you liked it “if you did”) 2. Receive Forgiveness (vs forgive self) 3. Ask forgiveness of other parties involved (When appropriate) {A List is very helpful of names}

- Shame is an issue here and they may not want to confess in frnt of you (Not always necessary, NO DETAILS, names) 

SOZO= “Your faith has saved you” LUKE 7:50  “Faith is a key” as you have to simply Believe it, in order to receive it-

Walk them through repentance and receiving mercy/grace from the LORD- You are His Representative He is present

B.   “Purged” by Holy Spirit- John 4 Jesus offers living water (Holy Spirit)  {Sanctification}

Love Heals, Our bodies were made for the LORD, so the presence of Holy Spirit Heals

Parakletos- Comforter, Counselor, helper – Simply invite Him to heal the person, and wait with them, allow them to cry, or be set free, or what ever Holy Spirit is doing-

Unclean spirits may come up- its OK! Don’t wory they will leave as sin is confessed, grace received- NO PLACE “topos” Like When I start spraying chemical and it seeps into deep cracks in the foundation bugs are driven out (watch them convulse!)

C.  No Condemnation no further accusation– Go free, sin no more- TRAIN THEM in TRUTH- JUS If IED nvr Sinned

 John 8:10 -¹⁰ Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” ¹¹ She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”

Few practicalities- CONFEDICIALITY!

b. ALWAYS in TEAM (ONLY exception is YOUR spouse)

c. Men, usually pray for men, ladies 4 ladies With Homosexual (MARRIED COUPLES KEY)

d. Water as a prophetic symbol of washing AFTER CONFESSION is so awesome!

e. Love people, and have 100% dependence and confidence in Holy Spirit 

Is 1:18- “Come now let’s argue this out” says the LORD- No matter how deep the stain of your sins I can remove it, I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow, even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool.

Jesus as Healer-

Luke 5:12-13 - In one of the villages, Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground, begging to be healed. “Lord,” he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” ¹³ Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared (AIDS)

Mat 4:23-24 -And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people. ²⁴ So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons,  epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them

John 10:10-  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

1 John 3:8- …But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.

3 Basic Truths About Healing

1.   It IS Gods WILL To Heal- God is NOT against Healing   (He wants to heal us)

2. God does NOT Send Sickness – (He Heals it)

 3. God does not send sickness to teach us some deep truth (for discipline)

Surgically Removing Heavily Imbedded Lies concerning Healing

Lie #1 – It is Gods Will that you are Sick (Oppressed, afflicted, wounded, ect)

Lie #2 – God is Sending this affliction to Teach a lesson, punish, or discipline 

 Lie #3    God wants us to embrace Sickness/ Affliction for some  good reason

Truth that Frees us – Undoing Tweaky Thinking

1. Gods Will is to Heal -       When I see Jesus I see the Father-

-          HEB 1: ³ He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power

   - Luke 5:12-13- “Lord,” he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” ¹³ Jesus reached out                  and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!”  

2. God does NOT SEND /CAUSE Sickness  (Source)  (ASK Q – OTHER SOURCES)

                        A. God Does NOT CAUSE ALL THINGS-   Rom 8:28 

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God.

            God is NOT the Source of sickness or affliction – We can confidently pray against Sickness

3 – GOD calls us to “Suffer “ – Never  Does He call us to Sickness

James 1:2,3- Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance  

(Embrace it, the outcome strengthens you)

James 5 – ¹⁴Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well.

Sickness-[astheneia /as·then·i·ah/]   weakness of the body  or sickness of the soul

PRAY SICKNESS STOPS!  (It tears us down- Never called to it EVER once in the NT

1 Cor. 14 :18 – I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

Paul practiced this gift himself, why would it be unbiblical to practice something Paul practiced? My thought is this gift has been stolen, twisted and shut down by the enemy himself to get us all to a place where we are not being effective based on fear of man, and twisted demonic doctrine.
Also I think it such an uncivilized practice that the proud heart would never stoop so low. We need to return to Biblical Christianity, the Christianity of the Bible, not just in theology but also in practice. Tongues is a valid, Biblical gift and meant for the strengthening of the believer as an individual. And given a clear context in which to practice, that should be maintained.
Dr. Wayne Grudem, a highly respected, widely accepted theologian in the evangelical community, as well as the third wave/Charismatic movement comments in His Systematic Theology book in a note…
1 Cor. 12–14 views tongues as a good gift from the Holy Spirit that is valuable for edification and for the good of the church, and if Paul can say, “I want you all to speak in tongues” (1 Cor. 14:5), then interpretations of contemporary experiences that, in effect, say, “I want you all to be afraid of tongues,” go contrary to the emphasis of the New Testament. (Note Dickason’s quotation of Kurt Koch: “Seeking this gift for ourselves can be a very dangerous experience” [p. 127].) This is just not the perspective Paul has in the New Testament.
Note Grudem says “interpretations of contemporary experience say, “I want you to be afraid of tongues” go contrary to the emphasis in the New Testament. I have not much more to say.
I hope this begins to open hearts and practice to the wonderful GIFT and tool the Lord Jesus Christ has provided through His Holy Spirit for you. Again, we must repent of the doctrines of demons that want to keep us from experiencing this present from the LORD. We must also repent of the fear of man, and the pride of our hearts that want to add to or take away from any reality of scripture.

The New Testament reality that the Church is an ARMY, not an AUDIENCE.

Most peoples mindset is “entertain me” vs “train me”.

Jesus trained disciples, disciplined followers, and told us to do the same.

Instead of training people to live lives like Christ did, we are entertaining multitudes walking in and out of a building once a week, sitting in chairs or pews… “Give me starbucks and a doughnut, sing songs that I like and tell me what I want to hear…. then get me out of here before the game starts at 1!” This is American church!

We have to turn our hearts back, and change our minds!

The New Testament Church has nothing to do with a building. (Not that I am against buildings! If I had one right now things may be a bit eisier!)

A building is a gathering place for the church. The Church is a PEOPLE. A called out people, called out of darkness, called into relationship WITH GOD and WITH each other, called to rock this world with revolutionary truth, real love and authentic power from another age!

Compare that with the entertain me mentality of sitting, sitting sitting and get me out of here, im hungry!

There is a shaking going on, people are sick of that stupid, boring lifeless dog we have called church. We were made for so much more!

We are a powerful army, we are an effective hospital, we are a people who love, who effect, who add salt to the earth.

WE ARE HIS CHURCH! – IT IS NOT A PLACE WE GO…

I have had the privelage of watching the Lord heal numbers of people from various ailments. Here is but a few…

The other day we prayed for a lady who had severe arthritis pain, and the pain instantly lifted after praying for her a second time! You could see the joy in her face!

One man in San Francisco CA, had been in a car accident years before and had constant pain in his arms and shoulder. After prayer in the name of Jesus, all the pain left and He worshiped and believed in Jesus Christ, whom he had not believed on before!

One of my formere High school students had a broken foot and an air cast on his foot. after prayer in the name of Jesus, we saw the swelling of his foot shrink before our very eyes! He took off the cast and walked out in shoes that day in front of many other witnesses! This began a faith in Jesus throughout the school!

One day I was working in Phoenix, a man had stayed home from work because he threw out his back, and was  about to see a chiropractor. I asked if he was open to prayer in Jesus name, he said yes. Instnatly the pain left, and his buddies were drinking thier beers watching this happen! He gave glory to Jesus Christ for healing him and saving him money for the chiropractor!!!!!

One former student complained of a severe headache and asked to go to the office for some asprin. He was very persistant and insisted I let him go right away. I agreed only if he would alow me to pray for him before he went. He agreed. after prayer in the authority of Jesus his headache lifted right away! He asked how I did that I said, Jesus did it! I did nothing! The whole class witnesed that healing!

Well, in short I hope I made my case for Jesus healing today! It is in no way limited to me, or about me, it is Jesus who loves people, and continues HIS ministry of healing through his people, the church.

If you are a believer in Jesus, I want to encourage you to pray for the sick, addicted and afflicted! You will be surprised what Jesus will do through you- Toss unbelief out… that crap is from the evil one!

Embrace faith in Jesus Christ your lover, trust HIM and love people enough to look silly praying for them!

Mabey, just mabey people will get healed and set free from all types of bondages!!!!!!!!

Believe your beliefs and doubt your doubts…

Jesus Christ heals you get up and walk!!!!
